The Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat, which started in May 2026, is the easiest way up. It leaves Jammu Tawi in the morning and reaches Srinagar in about 4 hours 50 minutes, running six days a week, with fares from around ₹860 in chair car. The line is an engineering feat, with over 900 bridges and long tunnels cut through the Pir Panjal, including the famous Chenab Bridge, and it halts at Katra, Reasi, and Banihal. It runs in all weather, so snow no longer blocks your way. We book your seats and meet you at Srinagar station.

Want to travel by road? A private cab covers the 269 km on NH-44 through the Jawahar Tunnel in about 10 to 12 hours, with tea stops at Patnitop and Anantnag along the way. It is long but lovely, and good if you want to stop where you like.

After completing breakfast on the houseboat, our driver will take you to Gulmarg; the road winds up to Gulmarg, a hill town some 55 km away.
